Álava region is part of the Basque Country, and is located in a key stretch of Atlantic Europe in the Northern part of the Iberian Peninsula.

The Basque Country thas 7,200 km2 in square area and a population of 2,174,033 inhabitants. It is composed of three territories: Álava, Biscay and Gipuzkoa. Its administrative capital is Vitoria-Gasteiz. It is an Autonomous Community of Spain that has its own fiscal system, has legal authority to regulate taxes and autonomy to manage and collect taxes.
